Have you ever been part of a conversation with someone, but then it takes a strange turn, and by the end, it feels awkward? As you walk away, you get the feeling that the other person probably thinks you’re weird. I’ve been there, and to be honest, it makes you feel terrible. It feels like you’re not seen as an equal but rather as someone who is different and abnormal. It feels even worse in a group setting. Once the awkwardness sets in because you said something outside their comfort zone, the whole conversation shifts for the worse. You might be met with a lecture about why what you said was wrong, or they’ll change the subject and push you away from the discussion. Then, when you’re not around, they start talking behind your back about how much of a loser or weirdo you are. I’ve been through that, and it made me really depressed for a long time. I would never want to hurt anyone the way people have hurt me.

We’re all weird deep down on the inside and that’s okay.

But enough of the emotional rollercoaster that is known as me. I’m about to explain to you why being werid is actually fun and how it makes you an interesting person.

Guy playing video games
Group of friends watching sports

For anyone considered “weird,” they are very passionate about their hobbies like playing video games, watching sports, reading books, watching anime, and more. The thing is, this is what weirdos enjoy doing for fun, and itโ€™s what they look forward to during the weekends. Most people on a Friday or Saturday night like to go clubbing, have drinks, and party hard. To me, that person is basic and boring. I prefer being around people who would rather spend their nights playing Battlefield or watching Saturday night hockey with their dad. Itโ€™s only considered weird because theyโ€™d rather be at home than go out. To me, the weird ones are the smart ones, and Iโ€™d rather hang out with them doing those hobbies and having a good time. You can make great lifelong friends that way by getting to know them better and creating amazing memories on those nights. To me, they are far from weird, and thatโ€™s what makes those individuals more fun to be around.

Man reading book

So, thatโ€™s pretty much the gist of it. Thatโ€™s what makes being weird fun. I know this is a short blog, but my message is: donโ€™t feel bad if people around you think youโ€™re weird. Those arenโ€™t your real friends, and you should be around people who share your interestsโ€”youโ€™ll be happier in the long run. Thank you for reading the first blog ever from WeirdoMatt, and stay tuned for more content.
